Water, color, and flowers are one of the most joyful combinations in art. In this workshop, Negin guides absolute beginners through the playful and liberating world of watercolor, using flowers as your subject and intuition as your guide. No experience needed, just a willingness to let go, experiment, and surprise yourself.
This is a rewarding learning journey. Each course requires dedication, regular practice, and commitment to completing weekly assignments. The more you invest, the more you grow. And yes, it can be fun too.

What you will learn:
Session 1 — Introduction to Watercolor
Getting to know your materials — watercolor paper, brushes, and paints How to hold a brush correctly Understanding water control — how much water to use and when Colour mixing and basic techniques — wet on wet, wet on dry Different types of compositions Exercise — practising washes, gradients, and basic colour mixing
Session 2 — Understanding Colour and Light
Introduction to colour theory — warm and cool colours, complementary colours How colours interact and harmonise in floral painting Understanding light, shadow, and transparency in watercolor Learning three types of flowers Exercise — painting simple petal shapes, exploring colour and light
Session 3 — Painting Your First Flower
Learning three types of flowers — how to simplify what you see into paintable shapes Building a flower layer by layer — from light to dark Learning different types of leaves Bringing together colour, water, and brush control Exercise — painting several complete flowers and leaves from start to finish
Session 4 — Your Final Composition
Composing a small floral arrangement on the page Bringing together everything learned — colour, light, composition, and technique Creating your own complete finished painting Personalised feedback and review of your progress throughout the course
How it works:
Sessions
All sessions are held online via Zoom or Google Meet Sessions are 45 minutes, once per week, plus one make-up session if a class is missed. Your Zoom/Google Meet link will be sent to you by email before your first session
After each session
You will receive a PDF summarising the session content and techniques covered The PDF includes your practice assignment for the week Photograph your completed assignment and send it to Negin by email at least 48 hours before your next session Negin will review your work, prepare corrections, and tailor the next session to your progress
Practice
You are expected to practise regularly between sessions Assignments are an essential and non-negotiable part of the learning process — please only register if you are committed to completing them Students who dedicate time to practice between sessions will see remarkable results
